Forensic psychology is the branch of psychology to the field of criminal law and justice; this expertise is important in court rooms. Usually, forensic psychologists work in courts and do private practices. Forensic psychologists work with a huge variety of clients in just as many settings as possible.   Many work in criminal, civil and family courts doing a number of things; such as judging mental competency of a child and offending people, providing psychotherapy to crime victims, evaluating child custody evaluations, working and providing second opinions.  Some conduct research on witness testimonies and jury behavior.  Forensic psychologists are often involved in lawsuits and custody disputes. Forensic psychologists work with a wide variety of clients in just as many settings.   They can also describe analysis of a criminal’s mind and his intentions. Forensic psychologists made detailed discussions and interview with the people who commit the crime, interview can be structured or unstructured, it depends upon the situation. The forensic psychologist’s job is to suspect its abilities and check the persons’ point of view about the crime. He made a lot of behavioral observations to see the congruence or incongruence in thoughts and behavior, because most of the time people who commit crime just malinger as innocent to save themselves from any legal punishment.

 

Forensic psychologist is an expert to judge the behavior but he also use some psychological test to provide the qualitative as well as qualitative information about the criminal .To check out that he/she has intentions towards crime or it happened accidently. Either they have any mental disorder or any personality disorder. Except all these points, forensic psychologists investigate the defendant to see he or she has ability to rehabilitate or they have signs to accusation. Sometimes it is difficult to understand human’s thought patterns. At times, when there is not any observable phenomenon then court needs to screen out the person’s mental state, so that they examine the mental state of criminal by doing observations, psychological tests and interviews. They try to provide pure justice. So we can say that forensic psychology job is a very tough job because they have to use their all professional and personal abilities and skills to find out the truth.
